The Sound of Music 1965 + Chanel Pre-Fall 2015
Alpine fashion was on Lagerfeld’s mind when he started preparing his latest fashion show a few months ago, and what better place to celebrate this iniciative then at one of The Sound of Music’s most emblematic locations?
Lagerfeld is one good show man, specially when it comes to his famous Metiers d’Art -Pre-Fall for everyone else- shows for Chanel. From Texas to Dubai, he usually goes for places that have a relationship with Coco Chanel’s history, in this case, one famous little black jacket from the fifties was inspired by a trip to Austria, when she saw a similar number worn by a hotel elevator operator.
Several versions of this jacket were presented on the runway, next to cartoonish representations of typical Austrian clothing, leather overalls and embroidered dresses with a country feel.
This story is revealed in the short film that Lagerfeld directed, with none other than Pharrell and Miss Delevingne as main characters and singers. Geraldine Chaplin plays Gabrielle Chanel once again -watch previous performance HERE–
Now going back to the collection and its setting, the show took place at the Schloss Leopoldskron castle, outside of Salzburg, the 18th-century, rococo Austrian palace that served as the outside of the Von Trapp house in the classic film. “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” took place in the Schloss’ gazebo, and if you don’t remember that scene, well you might as well go buy a soul for yourself.
